Dr. Erin Murphy
Dr. Erin Murphy grew up in North Andover, Massachusetts, where her early years were spent taking riding lessons, playing softball, and developing a lifelong interest in animals and science. She earned her bachelor's degree in Biology from Bates College in Lewiston, Maine, where her senior thesis focused on the effects of low-oxygen environments on respiratory physiology.
After graduating from Bates in 2021, Dr. Murphy spent a year working as a small animal veterinary technician at Bulger Veterinary Hospital in Lawrence, Massachusetts. In 2022, she moved across the country to attend the University of California, Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. During veterinary school, Dr. Murphy quickly discovered her passion for equine medicine and knew she wanted to pursue a career focused on caring for equine athletes and patients.
Following veterinary school, Dr. Murphy returned home to Massachusetts to join South Shore Equine Clinic & Diagnostic Center as an equine veterinary intern. During her internship, she is gaining advanced hands-on experience in both ambulatory and hospital-based equine medicine while working alongside the clinic's team of veterinarians.
Dr. Murphy has a particular interest in performance medicine and diagnostic imaging and looks forward to continuing to develop her skills in these areas throughout her internship. Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Murphy enjoys spending time on Cape Cod with her partner and family, skiing, camping, reading, and exploring everything the South Shore has to offer.
