Rachel A. Oberholtzer, D.V.M .
Rachel A. Oberholtzer, D.V.M. hails from southeastern Wisconsin and grew up on a hobby farm in Oconomowoc. Her love for horses began when she was six years old and began taking riding lessons and showing in local shows. She obtained her very own pony when she was eleven, and grew up with him by her side. Her equine veterinary passion began during her time working for a high volume equine referral practice in southern Wisconsin. She gained much experience in all aspects of equine practice, with a great deal of time spent in the reproduction department collecting stallions, assisting with embryo transfers, breeding and cycle checks. Dr. Oberholtzer graduated UW-Whitewater with her undergraduate biology degree and then attended veterinary school at University of Wisconsin-Madison. During veterinary school, she volunteered her time with two trips under the Humane Society Veterinary Medical Association Field Services Program (formerly Rural Area Veterinary Services), which is an organization that provides veterinary services to underprivileged communities in the US and abroad.
Dr. Oberholtzer’s medical interests include dentistry, reproduction, lameness and neurology. Some activities that she looks forward to while living in the area is to see a game at Fenway Park to cheer on the Red Sox, and eat plenty of fresh local seafood. In her free time, Dr. Oberholtzer enjoys spending time with her husband, hiking, fishing, scrapbooking and reading.
